About Noosa
Noosa is a very unique and special region.
Within the region we have a community of passionate people surrounded by an extraordinary and diverse natural environment. Noosa is a world class destination long recognised by both domestic and international tourists. It is also a great choice of location for doing business.
Noosa is the pearl of the Sunshine Coast and has an outstanding sustainability record. Through the drive and long-term commitment of the local residents Noosa has secured significant tracts of land for environmental protection.
This environmental philosophy pervades through the heart and minds of the entire community and into the local governance of the region, resulting in a development plan that shuns visible signs of development such as high-rise buildings, stop signs and overly-bearing commercial signage.
This has resulted in a highly desirable location for both residents and tourists alike, attracting high calibre knowledge workers to the region wishing to make Noosa their home. K E E N seeks to connect these people and collectively help make the region an even more attractive place to do business from.
In September 2007 the former Noosa Shire (now amalgamated into the Sunshine Coast Regional Shire) was awarded Biosphere status by UNESCO’s Man in the Biosphere International Coordinating Council, noting the strong sense of community involvement.
A Biosphere governance board has recently been formed to carry on and advance UNESCO’s Biosphere program objectives for strengthening and maintaining a balance in Noosa between people and the environment.
